A Mobile App is nothing but a computer program that runs on
smartphones, tablets, computers and other mobile devices. Apps are mainly
available through mobile distribution programs and began in 2008 and is
operated by the owner of the mobile operating system such as google app store,
Apple app store, Windows app store etc. They just need to be downloaded from
the source platform to the target device. Some of them are free while some are
the paid ones. For the paid apps, around 20-30% goes to the distribution
provider and the rest to the owner of the app.
The app is generally a short form of the word “ application
software” and became very popular in 2010s and became the “Word of the Year”.
Initially, mobile apps were developed for general purpose
such as email, contacts, calculator, calendar etc but on public demand there is
a range of mobile apps that includes apps for music, games etc.
The popularity of apps has continued to rise as their usage
has increased to a great level and it has now become a chaleenge to live up to
the expectations of the customers.
According to the recent survey more of the mobile users used
apps than they browsed the web on their devices.
According to the market research, around 102 billion apps
were downloaded in the year 2013. So now we can say this is nothing but an era
of technology where apps play an important role right from the rising of the
sun till the day ends. We are not only dependent on apps for our daily chores
but also completely addicted to it. It has become difficult to even perform
simple calculations and we ought to do it on our device.
Future predictions say that Mobile App Development area is a
field of great scope and money.
Having a knowledge and applying it to the development would
not only help us in earning money but would also widen up the technical arena.
